Imagine this scene with me for a moment, okay? I promise it won't be painful. Say you are stranded on an island. You've been there for a while and needless to say you are dying for water. You know that if you go just a little outside the jungle you're in, that you are bound to find and ocean of water right there. I mean it's an island, right? But instead you think, "Oh no, that is too easy, I'll come up with a harder, more difficult way to solve my dehydration problem. There has to be some way I can make my own water, right?"
The answer to that question is obviously, no! And you're probably wondering what the point of this strange illustration is right about now as well. You see, just as someone wouldn't actually try to find their own way of making water when they are dehydrated and surrounded by an endless supply of pristine water, why would we try to fix the biggest and hardest things in our lives on our own, when we have the most mighty, powerful, loving God who is right there waiting to help us. All we have to do is ask.
When tragedy hits us and those we love, our instinct is to do what? Try and fix it on our own. We spend all our energy and all our time trying to come up with solutions that in the end typically don't work out when all along God has been there...hoping and waiting that we would just turn to Him. We have to train our instincts to realize that in these situations, we need to be on our knees more than anything else. Girls, prayer is the single most powerful thing that is on this earth. And when we as believers realize just how much we can do through the power of prayer, I believe that big things will happen. Not only in our own lives but also in the world around us.
At your age, you might feel as though you can't really do much to change the things around you. Well, I am here to tell you that you are completely wrong when you feel that way. And never let anybody tell you otherwise! Each one of you has the power of prayer on your side, and through it God can accomplish miracles!
