How We Began

A group of twelve college students at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor started praying about a way to impact their community. The concept for a community Bible study for girls evolved from those prayer gatherings. Searching for a name for this weekly gathering, the team of twelve developed the SAGE acronym based on the principles that would be taught within the study: supplication, application, accountability, growth, and encouragement. After spending the summer in prayer, the team launched this new work in September of 1998 in the living room of a small house owned by a local church. Over 100 girls showed up to worship and study together that first night, and God has continued to open up door after door ever since. Read more about our history.
