So you and I are good friends. Some may even say best friends. We share pretty much everything. Secrets, clothes, make-up, hurts, joys...but there is one thing I keep from you. Say you are dying of a slow but curable disease, and I have the cure.  If I share it with you, you'll be healed and your life will be changed. If I don't, you may die never having known that I had the cure that could have saved you.

Seems like a no-brainer right? I mean what kind of person or friend would I be if I didn't give her the cure. The truth? We let people die every day without giving them the cure that could save their lives for eternity.

We live in a world that is dying. Harsh I know, but incredibly true.  We are all born into the disease of sin, but when we have Jesus as our Savior that disease is cured and our lives are saved for Eternity.  As believers we are called to share that cure with the world around us. Just as the illustration above shows how incredibly ridiculous it would be to let someone we love die, the same is true when we don't share the life-saving love of Jesus with them.  Ultimately, we are letting them die to the sin that they live in instead of helping them to see that there is a cure that will save them for all eternity.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23

Now I know that sharing your faith can be hard at times... You get afraid of the rejection that you may face or the teasing that you may have to endure.  But God tells us that all of that is worth it in the end.

"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and say all kinds of evil because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven." Matthew 5:11

How great a reward would seeing your friends and family in heaven be?  I can't think of a better one.  And that is exactly one of the rewards we can be assured of when we spend our lives sharing the love of Jesus with those around us.

So the next time you are faced with the choice as to whether or not you're going to share your faith, remember the two scenarios:

  1. Do nothing. Keep the cure and let your friends die to their sin.
  2. Share with them the love of a forgiving, merciful Savior and offer them a place in heaven for all eternity.

We all have the choice.  It's up to you to choose the best one.
