"New Moon" Debate
2009
November 19

NewMoonPicAfter months of insane publicity, New Moon, the long-awaited cinematic sequel to Twilight, will hit theaters tomorrow. Girls across the nation will fill movie seats in eager anticipation of this tale of vampires, werewolves, and forbidden romance.

We received an email today from a concerned parent, and we'd love for all our readers out there to join in the discussion about this film. An excerpt from her email is included below:

"I am in a quandry with some pressure to make a decision by tomorrow regarding this movie...I have heard that it is worse than the first. I saw Twilight with my daughters and my mother-in-law and I was blown away by the violence...My confusion lies in all these Christian parents taking their pre-teens and teens to see this. They hold fast to the idea that it can be a learning tool. Watch the movie and discuss the pro's & con's...I am just confused and would really like a healthy discussion regarding this matter. Thank you so much!"

Since our SAGE crew wasn't given the chance to check out an early screening, our review will not be up until later this weekend. However, there are other ministry outlets that have New Moon reviews up and ready to go. These reviews (we have a link to one of our favorites below) can assist you in making your decision as a parent/minister, but we definitely welcome everyone's input here as well to help our e-mailer.
